Joseph Jackson received on January 10th at the Sir Garfield Sobers Gymnasium an International Icon Award and the International Lifetime Achievement Award (in memoriam) on behalf of his son, the late Michael Jackson.
The show was taken to another level in the tribute to Michael Jackson.
Grammy Awards 2010:
Jackson was the focal point of the show on January 31st at the Grammy Awards 2010, with an unprecedented posthumous tribute. The Grammy's will broadcast a 3-D clip the singer made for his hit "Earth Song," a video that was to be integral to his comeback concerts in London in July 2009 — shows that never happened because of his June 25 death in Los Angeles.
"Prince" Michael Jackson spoke publicly for the first time, as he and his sister Paris accepted their late father's Lifetime Achievement Award at the Grammy's.
"This is the one award from us that Michael never received," said Recording Academy President and CEO Neil Portnow.
