Paying tribute to the King of Pop, premier vinyl specialists Hot Toys work up a new
set of Michael Jackson figures, showcasing the masterful work exhibited on his famous Thriller music video. The figures will come in a 1/6 scale, featuring all the intricate details one would come to expect from a Hot Toys release. A launch is set for December 2009 with a suggest retail price tag of ¥24,000 (Approx. $255 USD).
Michael Jackson TM `The Official Michael Jackson Opus` (Book) The first new book about Michael Jackson sanctioned by his estate will be published on December 7, 2009. It will be entitled 'The Official Michael Jackson Opus'. Publisher is Kraken Opus, whose opulent publications focus on major figures and brands in sports and the arts. A definitive photographic tribute with exclusive and unseen images, and words and essays by those who knew him and worked with him. "Michael wanted this to be accessible to as many people as possible."
Kraken Opus will accept pre-orders for the book at michaeljacksonopus.com, michaeljackson.com and through Ticketmaster. Negotiations for the book project started last year already when Kraken reached out to Michael Jackson through attorney Peter Lopez. Initially, the plan was to include the concerts at London's O2 Arena. "We wanted to tell the behind-the-scenes story of Michael Jackson the entertainer." While Michael was in rehearsals, he invited Kraken executives to his house in Los Angeles (USA). When Fowler mentioned they were working on a Disney Opus, Michael reacted "like a boy in a sweet shop. He asked if he could contribute and get a copy." Lopez says Michael Jackson was impressed by the Opuses' "sense of grandeur" and "expressed a definite desire to get on board." But Lopez and Kraken were still in negotiations when Michael Jackson died June 25. They had to make changes to the book`s content and the chronicling of the London shows "will be sorely missed," Fowler says. "But everyone involved in that tour wants to take part." Celebrities and insiders who knew and worked with Michael Jackson also are expected to contribute. "We're asking people to write a sentence, a paragraph or a chapter," says Kraken's Jeff Wald. "We expect a huge turnout." All books include Michael Jackson Opus Reality membership, which provides access to interactive footage with periodic updates. Architectural Digest has dedicated its November issue to Neverland Ranch. Rumor has it that Michael Jackson's family plans to turn Neverland Ranch into a Graceland-like tourist attraction, which will include a museum, a concert venue, and amusement park. Whether or not that's actually going to happen remains to be seen, but if you're curious about the King of Pop's 2,700-acre estate, Architectural Digest has dedicated its November issue (on sale September 30) to MJ's fantasy home. The magazine features rare shots of Neverland taken by photographer Harry Benson, who captured Jackson’s bedroom with its two life-size mannequins on pedestals – a girl wearing a British policeman’s hat and a Boy Scout touching hands – which form an archway leading to the door. A huge red throne-like chair ornately trimmed in gilt, featured on the issue’s cover, is next to the bed. Benson penned the second, more personal story about his experiences photographing Jackson over the years, including when he first met Jackson in 1984 during The Victory Tour and later visited Neverland in 1997. The vinyl will contain original album masters of some of Michael's biggest hits, previously unreleased versions of classic tracks plus two versions of the never-released "This Is It." This Limited Edition package also features a touching spoken word poem from Michael Jackson entitled "Planet Earth" that has never been heard before.
"This Is It" is featured in the film's closing sequence and includes backing vocals by Michael's brothers, the Jacksons. This four disc vinyl set also includes an oversized 36-page booklet of photographs taken at Michael Jackson's final rehearsal. "That's How Love Is," on sale today exclusively through iTunes, is the first single from 'I Want You Back! Unreleased Masters.' The album is a collection 12 previously unavailable tracks recorded between 1969 and 1974 by the Michael Jackson-led band of brothers. The album, along with the re-issued Jackson 5 'Ultimate Christmas Album,' will hit stores on Nov. 10 and can be pre-ordered at Amazon.com.
The songs were unearthed from Motown's vaults to celebrate the anniversary of the group. In addition to the first single (which can be heard free at jackson5.com), other songs include a Stevie Wonder collaboration called "Buttercup;" a studio medley of "I Want You Back/ABC/The Love You Save;" an alternate version of "Never Can Say Goodbye" and an extended version of "Dancing Machine." Michael Jackson’s music continues to give well into the holiday season. Universal Motown will present the ultimate stocking stuffer when it issues a new Jackson 5 Christmas collection on October 13. The Jackson 5 Ultimate Christmas Collection features the original, best-selling Jackson 5 Christmas Album from 1970, plus 10 bonus tracks. The added material includes acappella and “stripped” mixes of songs from the original LP and spoken-word “Season’s Greetings” from the King of Pop and his brothers. Here is the track listing: 1. Details about the soundtrack for the Michael Jackson documentary This Is It have been revealed, and the biggest news is that the two-disc collection will feature two versions of a brand new Jackson song titled “This Is It.” The song, which will feature in the film’s closing credits, includes background vocals by Jackson’s brothers.
