Neverland Lost. A Portrait of Michael Jackson. 10-05-'10

Prior to Michael Jackson’s death, Henry Leutwyler photographed crates of artifacts removed from Jackson’s Neverland ranch in California. The resulting series of photographs document the inner turmoil of the public person who chose to model his private life on Peter Pan and the Lost Boys – children who never wanted to grow up. Leutwyler’s unemotional portraits are almost too intimate to behold, but when one digs beneath the surface, what emerges is the profound truth of a star’s sequestered reality. Leutwyler’s photographs unearth the “Lost Boy” forced to leave Neverland, and now these still life's are as close as anyone will ever get to what Jackson once had, and ultimately left behind.

“I have an urge to investigate people I have never met” says Swiss-born Henry Leutwyler. With twenty-five years experience creating portraits that document the famous and powerful, he has turned his gaze on the belongings that surround the individual. A self-taught youth who began his career by photographing “cheese and chocolates”, Leutwyler is a visual archaeologist. His work drills deep, allowing the objects to reveal more than the subjects themselves.

Kravitz Track To Lead Jackson's New Album. 12-03-'10

The first album of new MICHAEL JACKSON material since the King of Pop's death last year (09) will be led by a track he recorded with LENNY KRAVITZ for his INVINCIBLE release.

Jackson cut the track because he felt it was "too rocky" for the album, but now producers have decided it's the best unreleased tune from the pop superstar's recent back catalogue.

And Kravitz reveals it was amazing to work with his idol, "It was a blessing... I got to work with this cat and we had so much fun. We laughed all day long; he's a funny, funny dude, and the work ethic was serious... We had a lot of respect for each other. It's a beautiful memory.

"It's (song) really about how his life has been so incredible, and, without God, it wouldn't be so."

Billboard's Top Oscar Music Performances. 12-03-'10

Billboard Magazine recently rated and ranked their Top "10 Awesome Oscar Live Performances" online. Included in the top 10 are artists such as Madonna, Bon Jovi, U2, Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce and of course Michael Jackson.

At just 14 years old, Michael Jackson stole the 1973 Oscar show with his performance of "Ben," a heartfelt ballad about a boy's friendship with a rat from the movie of the same name. Audience members appeared breathless while they watched the future King of Pop sing in such an impressive range. It may have lost the "Best Original Song" award that year, but "Ben" was Jackson's first No. 1 hit without the Jackson 5, and the beginning of a history-making solo career.

Slash Clears Up Long-Standing BOW Rumor. 12-03-'10

Guitar god Slash recently revealed his distaste for the signature hook from one of his old friend Michael Jackson's biggest hits.

Speaking with CNN personalities John Roberts and Kyra Phillips for his celebrity interview keynote during Canadian Music Week, the former Guns 'n' Roses axe man took the opportunity to clear up the long-standing rumour that he played on Jackson's 1991 hit, 'Black or White.' Slash said,

I never played on [Black or White']. If you listen to [the hook], that's gay. I'd never play that."

Regardless of the sexual orientation of the chord sequence in question, Slash did say that he could understand where the confusion came from.

I played on 'Give in to Me' [also on the 'Dangerous' CD] and in the 'Black and White' video, when Macaulay Culkin was trashing around, that's me playing."

The legendary guitarist, who played live with Jackson on several occasions thoughout his career and appeared on all of the King of Pop's official releases from 1991 on, also took the opportunity to speak publicly about the singer's tumultuous life and the circumstances surrounding his untimely death.

Michael Jackson was fucking amazing to watch. The one thing that Michael really wanted was for somebody to like him and those accusations just sorta just killed him. The fact that he was doing downers really makes sense for his lifestyle."

Bodyguards Say Michael Was An "Awesome" Dad. 10-03-'10

Michael Jackson enjoyed spending time with his children, cruising the Vegas strip and even ordering fast food through a drive through, according to three of his former bodyguards.
The King of Pop trusted his three bodyguards with his life, kids and secrets.

But the men also said Jackson's lifestyle was isolated and lonely and described it as full of "stress, paranoia and pain."

In an exclusive interview with "Good Morning America," Mike Garcia, Bill Whitfield and Javon "BJ" Beard spoke out about Jackson's secretive life, describing some moments as just plain "sad."

For instance, when Jackson held a birthday party for one of his children, only Jackson, the teacher, the nanny and the three bodyguards would attend, the men said. No other children were there.

"None," the three men said.

Jackson died June 25 following a lethal cocktail of prescription drugs and propofol. The three men said they first met the pop star more than two years earlier in 2007.

"He's got his little doctor's mask on and he says, 'BJ, hi, I've heard so much about you. Go ahead and have a seat,'" Beard said.

The three men signed up for personal protection, but the job became much more, they said. Jackson trusted them with his life, his children and his secrets.

"We were with Michael Jackson the person, not the entertainer," Garcia said.

In fact, the bandages Jackson wore frequently in public were not concealing secret surgeries, Whitfield said. Instead, the singer was using them as a disguise.

"That disguise to him was the burn victim look," Whitfield said.

Although the men wondered what was going on, they never asked Jackson about the mask.

"He's coming down with the kids and we can't say, 'What the hell you got on, sir?'" Beard said. "How could you tell him that?"

Prior to his death, Jackson was staging a comeback tour in London. When the family was not on the road, Jackson called a rented Las Vegas mansion his home. But his bodyguards said the singer did not enjoy being there.

"For you and I, it's a great house…but for security for MJ and his kids…[it's a] horrible house," Whitfield said.

The men said Jackson was always paranoid about security.

The men described Jackson as an "awesome" dad who loved to spend time with his children and took them to fast food drive-throughs for Big Macs and fried chicken. Often, Jackson would insist on ordering himself, the guards said.

"The kids were constantly saying, 'I love you, Daddy…They were like four buddies," Garcia said.

Despite having a privileged upbringing, Whitfield said the children were very "polite" and "well mannered."

A note from Paris to Whitfield asking for tuna fish for the cat is filled with please and thank you.

In fact, the bodyguards said the children were the easiest part of their job, and remember, wistfully, moments when they misbehaved and tried to sneak extra Oreos.

"I mean, sometimes they would say little things like, 'Bill, Daddy wants you to go get some cookies for us,'" Whitfield said, remembering moments when Jackson's kids tried to trick him into getting them cookies.

Estate Lawyers Challenge MJ Tribute Band. 10-03-'10

The executors of Michael Jackson's estate are embroiled in a legal battle with a tribute band - over the right to use the name of the King of Pop' s Neverland Ranch.

Lawyers for the estate recently contacted a Jackson tribute band called Neverland and demanded they change the title, insisting the group's name violates a trademark relating to the late singer's former home in California.

The band members changed their name to Foreverland, but they still own the rights to a web domain called Neverlandsf.com, and have offered to hand the web address back to the estate for a payment of $30,000, according to TMZ.com.

Attorneys representing the estate have refused the deal and have ordered the band to abandon the domain name by February 2011.

Moonwalker Video Game May Be Re-Released. 10-03-'10

Among the topics discussed at this year's annual Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, CA (USA) were iPhone and Michael Jackson.

Sony Music representative, Mark Kozlov, spilled the beans about a forthcoming, unannounced Michael Jackson video game: “We were trying to get a re-release of the old Moonwalker game out at the same time as the This Is It DVD, but we couldn’t work a deal out with [original game maker] Sega in time. [MJ's] estate is working on [releasing the new game]. You’ll have to wait and see.” Kozlov had no other details, adding, “It’s super secret.” Umm…

Michael Jackson ‘Tribute By Jermaine’ Scheduled. 09-03-'10

It’s still hard to believe that Michael Jackson is dead. People all over the world struggle to find ways to keep the memory of ‘The King of Pop’ alive. With the one year anniversary of his death approaching, for those who love him most, a celebration is in order. Good news, there will be a Michael Jackson tribute this summer. MJ’s brother Jermaine Jackson has booked London’s Wembley Arena on June 8, for what he is calling Tribute By Jermaine.

Although no actual performers have been announced yet, the tribute is promised to be a star-studded event. The tribute will be filmed and is expected to be released on DVD. Jermaine’s goal is to create the largest tribute of all time, something he feels very fitting for his brother. Michael’s dedicated fans would probably agree.

Michael Jackson has been honored numerous times since his death, with the Grammys, BET, MTV, and Academy Award shows all paying tribute to the late singer. It is clear that it is hard for the world to let go of such a legendary man. While many appreciate Jermaine’s initiative to keep his brother’s memory alive, others wonder if he is solely after the money.

New Website Called MJ On Stage. 08-03-'10

Chris Cadman, one of the authors of ‘Michael Jackson For The Record’, has opened a new website, which is a pictorial timeline of Michael’s career. Rare clips of performances and some rumoured shows are listed together with specials and films.

The inspiration for the site began in May 2009. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to buy a huge collection of clippings for The Victory Tour, while researching for my other site www.the-michael-jackson-archives.com and my book Michael Jackson For The Record Expanded & Revised co authored with Craig Halstead.

The collection was quite simply magnificent and there was a story behind them too. A guy named R.Lach had collected newspaper stories, headlines and newspaper specials from as many states as he could where the Jacksons played. They fill 3 huge binders and will be shown here on the site over the next 12 months.

Chris’s new web site can be viewed by clicking here.

MJ Hat Among Museum's New Finds. 07-03-'10

Lonnie Bunch, director of the National Museum of African American History and Culture, has been traveling the country - and the globe - and gathering new acquisitions for the museum, which is slated to open in Washington, DC in 2015. New pieces include Michael Jackson's fedora and a pair of middle passage shackles.

It's felt, black, wide-brimmed and one of the most iconic hats in history. On a recent afternoon inside an NPR studio, Michael Jackson's fedora was carefully removed from a box by two museum handlers and displayed on a mat.

The hat is part of the growing collection of artifacts that will make up the permanent collection at the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

In five years, the museum is set to open up on the National Mall, just under the shadow of the Washington Monument.

It will become the latest Smithsonian museum and the first national museum to celebrate the legacy of Americans of African descent.

Lonnie Bunch is the executive director and museum curator. Much of his time is now spent traveling the country — and the world —searching for artifacts to tell the story of Africans in America.

Bunch stopped by NPR headquarters for a little show-and-tell. Along with Jackson's fedora, Bunch managed to find a powderhorn used by a freed slave named Prince Simbo, who fought with the Connecticut line during the Revolutionary War.

"It really speaks volumes about the commitment of African-Americans to liberty." Bunch told NPR's Guy Raz that not much is known about Simbo, but he clearly saw battle during the war, because he was rewarded after the revolution.

Over the coming months, Bunch will continue to stop by to share some of his latest "finds" with All Things Considered. Copyright 2010 National Public Radio.

Additionally, in April 2010 the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC will be opening an exhibit featuring the Apollo Theater. This exhibit will also showcase items from Michael Jackson.

Jackie Jackson Interview At Sydney DVD Launch. 06-03-'10

During an emotional night to launch the Michael Jackson’s This Is It DVD in Sydney, the king of pop’s brother Jackie Jackson spoke with the Inner West Courier. Jackie, Michael Jackson's eldest brother, was in Australia to accept an award on behalf of the movie.

In an interview at the This Is It DVD launch, Jackie said, without a doubt, he appreciated all Michael's fans to the fullest.

“He loved his fans, he treated them the best,” Jackie said.

Although Jackie held himself together during the interview, he ended up in tears at the launch later that night when thanking Michael’s This Is It choreographer Travis Payne and director Kenny Ortega for all their hard work in putting the movie together.

He told me that he loved Michael the most for being such a great father to his children. Jackie said,

I just loved to see him do his thing on stage and entertain, he was great in the recording studio, he was always amazing and came up with something totally different all the time, but what I loved about Michael the most was he was a great father to his kids."

Despite all the pain and hardship the Jackson siblings have faced, they still remain genuine and loving people and Jackie Jackson was quick to prove it.

This Is It smashed the box office generating a worldwide gross revenue of $259.3 million during its theatrical run and is now the world’s number one grossing documentary film.

Debbie Rowe Cries at Michael's Mausoleum. 05-03-'10

Debbie Rowe, the mother of Michael Jackson's two older children, visited the late King of Pop's final resting place Thursday.

Wearing dark shades and visibly emotional, Rowe paid a visit to Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, CA. Rowe was granted access to the cemetery, but did not gain access to the mausoleum because of security restrictions that only allow people who are on an approved list to enter. While inside, Rowe was surrounded by Jackson's fans who embraced her, sharing in their mourning.

A source close to Rowe tells "The Insider" Rowe still loves Jackson and is continuing to grieve his loss months after his sudden June 25 death. The source tells "The Insider" that despite a judge's ruling that granted her visitation rights to see "Prince" Michael and Paris Jackson, Rowe has not been allowed to visit with the children.

Rowe did not attend Jackson's public memorial service last summer or his subsequent private burial service.

Janet To Appear On ‘Tonight Show’. 05-03-'10

For the first time since Michael Jackson’s death in June 2009, Janet Jackson will visit a late-night network talk show when she appears on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on March 18, 2010.

Janet Jackson will join Leno for an interview, however, she will not perform. The musical guest that night will be Australian artist Orianthi, who was actually Michael Jackson’s lead guitarist during rehearsals for his “This Is It” tour, a trek which sadly never made it to the London stage.

Janet Jackson’s “Tonight Show” appearance will mark her second network interview since her brother’s death after sitting down with ABC’s Robin Roberts in November.
Janet Jackson is the latest big name NBC has drawn to welcome Leno back to the “Tonight Show.”

Jamie Foxx, Lindsey Vonn, Sarah Palin, Apolo Anton Ohno and Adam Lambert have been among the names to grace the stage since Leno’s return on March 1. Matthew McConuaghey is set to appear on Thursday’s show. Additionally, Kristen Stewart, Simon Cowell and Kim Kardashian are among the celebrities who will join Leno next week.

In addition to the stars, the viewers also gave Leno a warm welcome — his “Tonight Show” return drew 6.6 million viewers on Monday night.

Debbie Rowe Wins Defamation Suit. 04-03-'10

Michael Jackson's ex-wife Debbie Rowe just won a defamation lawsuit she filed against a woman who allegedly spread lies about her in the press -- and now Debbie's $27,000 richer for it.

Debbie sued Rebecca White back in July when White went on "Extra" after Michael's death and claimed Debbie didn't care about getting custody of Michael's kids ... and was only interested in getting money from the Jackson family.

Rebecca never responded to Debbie's lawsuit ... so the judge entered a default judgment today in L.A. County Superior Court.

Debbie was awarded $27,000 -- including $10,000 in damages for the emotional distress she supposedly suffered after White's interview hit the airwaves.

Children Services Back Today in Jackson Casef. 04-03-'10

TMZ has learned the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services will be coming back to the Jackson family home in Encino to interview the children ... and deal with a little Internet problem going on inside the house.

Sources tell us DCFS spent 6 1/2 hours yesterday speaking with adult family members as well as staff.

We're told many -- but not all -- of the people social workers spoke with are giving the same account as Katherine Jackson (through her lawyer, Adam Streisand).

Sources tell us one of the issues DCFS wants to deal with today is making sure there are controls on the access children in the house have to the Internet.

As we first reported, Jermaine Jackson's 13-year-old son, Jaafar, purchased a stun gun online -- and that's what triggered the DCFS investigation.

Michael Jackson's Kids Visited By Welfare Officials. 03-03-'10

Michael Jackson's mother Katherine was visited by child welfare officials on Monday over the purchase of a stun gun. Katherine Jackson was appointed as the legal guardian of the late King of Pop's three kids, Prince, Paris and Blanket, following the superstar's death last June.

However, representatives from the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) were recently called to check up on the youngsters after one of Jermaine Jackson's minor offspring ordered a stun gun online.

The gadget was delivered to the family's California home last month but was intercepted by the clan's security team before the kids could get their hands on it, Jermaine's brother, Randy, tells TMZ.com.

It is unknown who alerted the DCFS to the stun gun purchase but two officials visited the Jackson home on Monday to investigate the claims. Katherine's lawyer Adam Streisand confirmed the visit to TMZ.com, adding, "Mrs. Jackson is doing the utmost to safeguard the welfare of her grandchildren."

The child welfare officials are expected to return to the house for a follow-up visit on Tuesday.

It is called ITS ALL ABOUT L.O.V.E. and can be ordered via amazon, various other online book stores or you should also be able to get it at a bookstore near you with the following ISBN: 978 3 8391 4941 6

THE BLURB:

A lot has been written about Michael Jackson! His musical genius has been analyzed, his life has been told in ever so many versions, his persona has created reactions from deep admiration to hate.

But there is one thing, one big topic that played such a huge role in Michaels life and career but still has always been neglected: his relationship to his fans! This very special bond that existed between Michael and his fans around the world generated stories that have never been told before and shows a facet of Michael that the general public is not even aware of!

ITS ALL ABOUT L.O.V.E. is a book that contains stories and poems that no journalist, no biographer and no editor in this world could ever write about Michael Jackson. It not only shows the immense inspiration Michael was to his fans but also includes true stories of fans meeting Michael backstage right before his concert or on the set of In the closet, talking to Michael on the phone, giving an artwork-presentation to him, having a nightly conversation with him or even visiting Michael at home in Neverland. These are stories that only his fans can tell! May this book help to keep his memory alive for many generations of fans that will follow. Not of Michael Jackson the mega star, the Moonwalker or King of Pop - just of Michael, the man who so self-sacrificingly tried to show the world that it is all about L.O.V.E! :

THANX to everyone from MJSN who shared their stories! Without you this project would not have been possible!

Thanx to you, the book has become an amazing documentation of what it was like being a Michael Jackson fan in the MJ-era. Although it is still always painful to realize: the next generation(s) of Michael Jackson fans will never be able to experience him the way we have so we can be proud that now we can at least offer them a glimpse into what he was like, how he cared for his fans, how he loved entertaining us with little messages, window games and lightshows and how he never missed a chance to show us his love. Now everyone has a chance to experience Michael outside of the media and realize that he was, in contrast to what the media says, one of the most accessible stars for his fans!

The way the stories are written, all the love and admiration that flows out of them can really serve as a mirror of Michaels personality!

All authors of the book have agreed to the waiving of their revenues for the benefit of a charity organization, acting in the true spirit of Michaels message - so all revenues will go to Make-a-Wish International!

Cover-Up in Michael Jackson Death? 01-03-'10

Michael Jackson received the fatal dose of Propofol through an IV in his leg, and law enforcement believes Dr. Conrad Murray may have tried covering it up ... this according to law enforcement sources and an anesthesiologist who reviewed the case for the LAPD.

Dr. Murray told cops he administered only a very small amount of Propofol -- 2.5ml shortly before Jackson died. But Dr. John Dombrowski, a noted anesthesiologist and member of the board of the American Society of Anesthesiologists who reviewed the LAPD file for detectives, tells TMZ that 2.5ml couldn't put Jackson to sleep, much less kill him. Indeed, the Coroner's report notes the level of Propofol found in Jackson's body was equivalent to that found during "general anesthesia for major surgery."

A small, empty, 20ml bottle of Propofol was found in the bedroom, but there was a secret compartment in a nearby closet that could be the key to the prosecution's case. Several days after Jackson's death, law enforcement found numerous bottles of Propofol in that closet, including a large, empty, 100ml bottle with a large tear in the rubber stopper.

The tear could be critical evidence. There are two ways of administering Propofol. The first is sticking a syringe into the rubber stopper, withdrawing a small amount and then injecting it into the tubing. The second way is by using a spike -- which creates a tear in the rubber stop -- and connects the entire bottle of Propofol to the tube.

Dr. Dombrowski says if a spike is used to connect the bottle directly to the IV tube, the doctor must use an infusion pump to regulate the flow of Propofol -- otherwise, the patient could easily OD. There was no infusion pump found in Jackson's home.

Dr. Dombrowski and law enforcement sources believe Dr. Murray may have connected the 100ml bottle of Propofol to the tube, and then either tried regulating the flow by eyeballing it or just letting it flow by itself ... and Dr. Dombrowski calls either scenario "reckless." Remember, Dr. Murray himself told detectives at one point he walked out of Jackson's room to go to the bathroom.

If Dr. Murray did indeed attach the 100ml bottle to the tube and the contents emptied into Jackson's system, that would be 40 times more Propofol than Dr. Murray said he administered.

There is no explanation for the empty bottle of Propofol in the hidden compartment.
