Onthullend Book CoverOnthullend

'Onthullend' (original title is 'Unauthorized') book was released on November 1st, 1994 in the USA by publisher Simon & Schuster and written through author Christopher Andersen. This book is the translation into dutch by Karin van den Berg, Liz van Deurzen, Monique van der Reijen and Ank van Spaendonk.

Description:

"Andersen's bio doesn't add a lot that's new to the canon of Jackson mania, despite the prepublicity hype. Still, this pithily written book, bolstered by interviews with key players, does a good job of pulling the Jackson story together and putting Michael's weirdness into context.

Although Andersen has few doubts that Jackson was indeed guilty of pedophilia, the villain of the piece isn't Michael, but rather Michael's father, Joe, a womanizer and an abuser who beat his kids into submission. If Michael's desire is to never grow up, {a la Peter Pan}, it comes directly from his fear of what a man is, as represented by Joe Jackson.

Andersen's reportage is best in the chapters about the child sex-abuse allegations and even offers the specific physical characteristics police were looking for when they photographed Michael. (Alas, a rumored Winnie-the-Pooh tattoo remains unconfirmed.) There are also details of the $26 million out-of-court settlement. As for Michael's latest incarnation as a husband, the book's publishing date only allowed for one brief chapter that summarizes this amazing turn of events.

Andersen shouldn't throw away his notes. More than any novel, this book demands a sequel."

The King Of Pop's Darkest Hour Book CoverThe King Of Pop's Darkest Hour

'The King Of Pop's Darkest Hour' book was released in September 1994 in the USA by publisher Branden Books and and written through author Lisa D. Campbell.

Description:

This book details the career of Michael Jackson and his efforts to finally shed his media shy image. 1993 was destined to be one of the biggest and best years for Michael Jackson, but along came an ugly and disturbing twist - he became the target of allegations of child molestation.

Although he constantly kept his complete and total innocence, he was subjected to an unprecedental barrage of media attention and abuse. His every move and motives were questioned, but Jackson consistently and without exception proved his sceptics wrong.

This book takes a look at the media's obsession with the story, not with the facts, but with the sensationalism and the potential for profits; big profits! Here are the facts and perspectives that were virtually ignored by the media.

Pro-Michael chapters maintain his innocence and refute evidence against him, revealing Jackson's personal and professional challenges in handling fame.
